A work of art
You might have noticed the laneway at the Griffith St Larder entrance is looking a lot more colourful lately - local artist Claudio Kirac has been hard at work transforming the laneway into a work of art. With a career as a professional artist, photographer, designer and consultant spanning over twenty years, Claudio's talents are in high demand, and he has created art in the retail environment for major brands such as Billabong, plus events including Bleach* Festival and Splendour in the Grass. His most recent artwork projects include 'Home Sweet Home', a mural stretching across three sites on the Gold Coast during Bleach* Festival 2015, plus a live painting at the launch of the Rabbit + Cocoon Arts Precinct at Miami.
“We love working in the physical environment, and a retail laneway is the perfect canvas for a piece of public art,” said Mr Kirac.
“It’s a great opportunity to work at The Strand, with the aesthetic they have created down here – it’s very modern, but also has a strong attachment to the local area and lifestyle.”
We love Claudio's blending of beach lifestyle and art, giving the area an urban laneway feel just in time for the new small boutique shops joining the centre in coming weeks. Want to know the latest shops to join The Strand? Stay tuned...
