on 06 October 2017
Consider yourself a game lover? Then you’ll feel right at home on the Gold Coast, where games are all the rage. From real-time strategy to stealth shooting, combat adventure to amazing simulation, the Gold Coast covers every kind of game for every age and personal preference. Go solo or choose multiplayer - the choice is yours.

Timezone
For any gamer visiting the Gold Coast, Timezone should be the first stop. Located on the 1st level of The Strand Coolangatta, it’s 3,000 square metres of non stop gaming fun. The entertainment centre features full size bowling lanes, classic favourites such as dodgem cars and laser skirmish, plus 200 of the latest and most popular games and attractions. Open 9am to late seven days a week you can challenge your friends to a laser battle, bump your way around a purpose built track, practice your bowling stance on the lanes, or load money onto your Timezone Powercard to swipe your way to gaming action. Each machine has a coloured swiper, with each colour representing a game category. Enjoy standard games, ticket games, prize games, photo games and various attractions, including Jurassic Park motion, Mini Rider 2 & 3D, Typhoon Simulators and Dark Escape 4D. New additions include Luigi Mansion, Aerosmith Pinball, Space Invaders Frenzy and The Walking Dead.

Timezone is ever changing and every time you visit you’ll find something different. It’s location in The Strand Coolangatta also means you can take in a movie at Birch, Carrol & Coyle, or grab a bite to eat at one of the many great restaurants. Nothing beats a burrito from Beach Burrito or a burger from Grill’d Healthy Burgers following an afternoon of bowling and gaming.

Game Over
The future is now at Game Over, with virtual reality experiences using the latest and greatest technology. Strap on the HTC VIVE VR Headset and power through the best games on a beastly, High-End Alienware Gaming PC. Move around in a 3.3 x 4 metre gaming zone and experience something like never before.

If you don’t fancy virtual reality, sit yourself in a state-of-the-art electric kart, the first of its kind in Australia. Zip around a track at lightning speed and race up to 14 laps (10 laps for juniors) until the checkered flag drops. From there you can try the Meathook Zip Coaster, in which you’ll soar above the Grand Prix track.

Prefer to Clip ‘n’ Climb? You can do that too with Game Over’s action packed climbing adventure precinct. Comprising of 16 uniquely themed challenges you can defy the Leap of Faith, take the Stairway to Heaven, or get yourself in a knot in the amazing Twister Tower. Alternatively you could enter yourself into a futuristic battle with lazer tag or try your luck one the many video games in the arcade. Phew, where to start?

Gold Coast Indoor Paintball
Get ready for the ultimate heart-pumping, exhilarating paintball experience on the Gold Coast. Rated 5/5 and with packages from just $49, you can unleash the Elite Commando with 200, 400, 700, 900 or 1400 paintballs. Gather the troops and together feel the intense rush as you battle with professional paintball guns, anti-fog masks and a tournament grade jersey, pants, and pod pack.

For those preferring a dodgeball-esque kind of game, Arrow Tag, or Archery Tag is the latest concept to hit the Gold Coast. Played with bows and lightweight foam-tipped arrows, players are divided into two teams and hide behind inflatable bunkers. The first team to knock out the centres of a five-spot target on the opponent’s side of the field claims victory. Painless and mess-free, it’s a game suitable for 10 years and up.

Holoverse
Holoverse is the universe at your fingertips. A family-friendly attraction, it houses 40 hologram rooms with a variety of experiences to choose from. Imagine a fantastic movie, combine it with the thrill of an amusement park, and you’ve got yourself the ultimate entertainment experience.

Visit wondrous new worlds, explore ancient civilisations, fight robots with swords and guns, or turn into dragons and battle your friends in the sky. Developed here in Australia, it’s cutting edge hardware and software at its best and something you won’t believe until you see it. Prices start at $20 for a Flyover of the Gold Coast.

Escape Hunt
The Escape Hunt Experience is a global entertainment franchise that since opening has offered over 5 million minutes of gameplay. The Gold Coast branch has six rooms, each offering a different puzzle. Be transported to a different era and play the part of a famous London detective. Your adventure lasts about 90 minutes and afterwards you can chat about your experience in the lounge area over refreshments and dress ups for photos. Games change regularly, so be sure to keep going back.

Infinity
Infinity is a unique, mind-blowing journey into a futuristic maze-like world of wonder. With 20 multi-sensory experiences complete with interesting aromas, ultra-groovy music, and spectacular illusions, it’s a scene to ignite the imagination. Expect the unexpected but expect an exciting, hilarious, highly interactive experience.

Dracula’s Haunted House
The Haunted House at Dracula’s is a purpose-built, walk through attraction in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Take a journey through secret passages, with animated monsters, mind-bending optical illusions and crazy photo opportunities. Level one contains zombies, a shark-mauled lifesaver and a mirror maze. Level two is the Phobia Level where you encounter your worst fears. Level three explores the circus of the underworld and allows you to crawl your way through the human body. Level four is The Dead Zone, an Aztec crawl through tomb. Do you dare enter?
