Much loved coastal homewares store, Salt Living, has expanded into a new retail store and showroom at The Strand at Coolangatta.

Featuring an expanded range of designer furniture, homewares and photography by local surf photographer, Mi Alma Photography, the new showroom offers Hamptons inspired furniture and a highly select range of coastal interiors, lighting fixtures and rugs to adorn the ultimate beach house.

Australian designer label, Zulu and Zephyr, will also feature more prominently with their lifestyle-inspired clothing and swimwear made for the sun, salt and sea.

Just awarded the Emerging Interior Decorator of the Year at the Coco Republic x Vogue Living Awards in Sydney in December, Salt Living owner Jacinta Bishop is certainly one to watch in the interior design space.
Along with the expanded store, Jacinta is planning to move into property styling, and the new space will also become home to an interior design consultant to be on hand for any design questions and interior styling. 
For Jacinta and Salt Living, 2017 is certainly looking bright. “My dreams are coming true – it’s so exciting.”

Q: When did your interest in Interior Design begin, and how did you the idea for Salt Living start?
A: Ever since I was a little girl I was always really inspired by big beautiful houses and adored looking through Vogue Living magazines and architecture magazines. Salt Living just evolved from a desire to create a place for all of my favourite things. I noticed that there weren’t many options for people who wanted to create a more luxe coastal look, as opposed to the cliché beach house look that can be quite common.

Q: Your recent award for Emerging Interior Decorator of the Year is a huge achievement – what opportunities do you hope this will open up for you?
A: Hopefully a spot on next year’s The Block! It was wonderful to be recognised as someone who is up and coming in the Interiors industry, hopefully Neale Whitaker will visit Salt Living one day. Fingers crossed!

Q: What are you predicting will be the biggest design trend for interiors in 2017?  
A: Quality over quantity. People are becoming more and more aware of the wastage that occurs when they purchase cheaply made products that will probably end up in landfill after they need to be replaced after only a couple of years. 2017 will be a year of selecting quality, well made pieces that will last 10 – 20 years or more.
