National fundraiser, ‘Melanoma March’, will again hit the streets of the Gold Coast starting from The Strand at Coolangatta on Sunday 20 March as part of the annual campaign to raise funds and awareness for a cure for melanoma.
An initiative of the Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA), ‘Melanoma March’ is now in its fifth year, and has raised over $1.6m for melanoma research and education programs.
Following the inaugural Melanoma March Coolangatta in 2015, The Strand is proud to be supporting Melanoma Institute Australia and the Melanoma March committee in bringing Melanoma March to Coolangatta again in 2016.
Registrations will be open from 6.30am at the base of the escalators at The Strand – so you can bring along your four-legged friends to walk with you! The March will commence from The Strand on Marine Parade at 7.30am and take in a picturesque 4km loop along the foreshore of Coolangatta Beach, turning at Point Danger.
Participants are encouraged to walk, march, stroll or even run the 4km course. After the walk, all participants are welcomed back to The Strand for post-event refreshments and family-friendly entertainment.
For the first time in 2016, Natalie Quirk will be the dedicated host of the 2016 Melanoma March Coolangatta. Natalie has been personally impacted by melanoma in and is hoping to raise funds and awareness to help change the outcome and quality of life of people living with this disease.
The ‘Melanoma March’ is suitable for all ages, and children under 5 years are free. Interested participants can now register online and begin to raise funds with the sponsorship of family and friends.
