Introducing Edward & Co. – The Modern Man’s Barbershop
There’s no doubt about it – barbering is booming. From the long lost art of a cutthroat shave, to a hot towel and a warm whiskey, the genuine barber service is back in fashion, and the guys at Edward & Co. have it in spades.
The Edward & Co. concept was started by salon extraordinaire, Marcus Edward, just over two years ago, and it’s going down a treat with gents of all ages looking for the old fashioned barbershop experience with all the modern trimmings.
Offering a sharp man’s groom, from morning till noon, Edward & Co. takes a leap from the old shopping centre, take-a-number barber shop. With an innovative approach, they’re changing the way men think about getting a haircut.
“It’s about quality and service,” says Lee Power, manager of Edward & Co. “Men want to look sharp – so we’re making the service something to keep coming back for. It goes from being a chore to something they look forward to.”
And we have Lee to thank for the reincarnation of the modern barbershop. The business he started in 2010, Mods and Rockers, was the first 1970s inspired barbershop to offer the old-fashioned barbershop service, complete with a complimentary whiskey or beer, and it got everyone on the Gold Coast – and around Australia – talking. Now he proudly heads up the team of five barbers that are all passionate about their innovative industry.
“We’re classic, diverse, versatile and open to all walks of life. We don’t just have one type of client looking for short back and sides. We’re breaking away from that to cater for any particular style. It’s about having the skills and confidence to perform any cut in consultation with our customers.
“A lot of men now want add texture and shape we also offer reshaping, colouring and shampooing, but in a barber environment.”
If you love the jive, having a laugh and a bit of good old fashioned service, head on down to The Strand and settle into the chair for the ultimate cut, shave and singe (ear singeing, that is) with the guys from Edward & Co. The warm whiskey or cold beer is on the house.
